MISSION
The aim of the SEBoD initiative is to reduce the social, cultural, economic, and regulatory barriers to early diagnosis and treatment of depression in Asia Pacific through education and destigmatization of depressive disorders.
Strategies
- To achieve our mission, SEBoD will focus on reducing social and other barriers to early diagnosis and appropraite care for people with depressive disorders
- Introduce and conduct education programmes for health professionals, the general public and patients with their carers
- Carry out research to obtain data necessary for action programmes reducing the stigma related to depressive disorders
Activities
SEBoD has carried out and published several major reviews of the epidemiology of depression in Asia.
- Legislation relevant to depression, its diagnosis and treatment
- Existing diagnostic and treatment guidelines in various countries
- Education about depression in medical schools
- Economic losses caused by depressive disorders
- Review of current situation
